The basis for this custom build is the impeccably crafted AM Ni-Cr-Mo steel space frame offering an even smoother, more refined ride quality than it’s predecessor. It’s an extensive re-working of the original classic with cleaner lines, smaller pack size, and reduced weight.
Hands down, the Moulton is one of the best riding bikes on the road today. This is due, in large part, to the highly adjustable suspension system. It allows the advantage of strong, rigid wheels in combination with high pressure/low rolling resistance tires, while still providing a more comfortable ride than a conventional bike. The suspension also maintains and improves traction on rough or loose surfaces.
Transmission is provided via an elegant double ring White Industries crankset with 52t/38t chainrings and 170mm crank arms. It features White Industries’ unique quick-release pedal cranks which convert any standard 9/16” pedal into a quick-release pedal, Shimano Ultegra front and rear derailleurs, Wippermann Connex 908 chain with quick link, 9 speed Shimano Capreo rear cassette (9t – 26t), controlled by Shimano Ultegra 2/9 speed indexed bar-end shifters, developing a wide gear range of 24 to 96 gear inches, capable of handling any type of terrain.
Braking power provided by Tektro R539 double pull calipers and Shimano Ultegra brake levers.
Custom hand-built wheels are comprised of Moulton M-17 (17”) 32 hole alloy rims with machined sidewalls, buttery smooth Japanese alloy cartridge bearing hubs, 14 gauge stainless steel spokes, and Schwalbe Kojak 17” x 1 -1/4” tires and tubes.
Drop handle bar: Nitto 430mm “Randonneur”. Stem: alloy raised threadless 110mm. Seat post: Moulton 953 stainless steel with micro adjust seat clip. Saddle: Brooks Slate Cambium. Head set: Campagnolo.
Bike comes with matching Ni-Cr-Mo steel day rack with stainless strut, and was recently fitted with Moulton mudguards (see last 3 photos). Optional Large Rear Carrier and Front Platform Carrier can be had for $445 and $305 additional respectively.
